Hi,

I'm trying to research a Stephanhouser Straight Soprano Saxophone and how
much it's worth. To make a long story short, a friend of mine had just
purchased this sax for her, then, boyfriend, and within a week or so, it
ended in a very messy way (to put it mildly).

Anyways, it's pretty much time for her to get rid of the sax, and put that
part of her life behind her. So now we're trying to see what a reasonable
price is to sell it for on eBay is. The only problem is that I don't see
very many listings for Stephanhouser saxophones there. Personally, I'm a
guitar player, I can tell you how much my 85 Stratocaster is worth, or a
Gibson, Ibanez, etc... but this is different territory to me. The last time
I ever played sax was 23 yrs ago when I was in the school band playing Tenor
Sax. She told me she bought it for around $1000Cdn after exchange (so
approx. $900US).

As best as I can tell, it's a SSS700-LQ, and these links are probably the
best description of what it looks like:
http://www.gemstonemusical.com/stephanhauser/SSS700-LQ.htm
http://www.kesslermusic.com/stephanhouser/newsite/html/soprano/sss700lq.htm
For some reason the Stephanhouser website seems to be down though...

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has seen these for sale used, or on eBay
before, and how much they went for? She's expecting to lose because it was
used, but a week or so of use isn't really much and the thing looks like
it's brand new. It has all the attachments as best as I can see, along with
a nice case.

Thanks in advance for any replies,
Wayne

I put "Stephanhouser Straight Soprano Saxophone" in Google and figured out
what the piece of crap's worth in about ten seconds. Regarding the other
stuff, nobody cares about your pathetic bid for sloppy seconds.

Ok... it looks like someone here has hit 0 points on the maturity level. If
you don't feel like offering any advice, and just feel like flaming, then
maybe you should stick to a forum and not a newsgroup.

Looks like someone was having a bad day. Not your problem, don't let it
bother you. To fundog, remember: What goes around comes around. But you
already knew that, didn't you?

Wayne, if you don't get any satisfaction here I suggest you try posting your
question to the appropriate forum on Sax on the Web (www.saxontheweb.net).
Lots of knowledgeable--and civil--people there who might be able to help
you.

Ok, thanks Toby. I'll try there. I've done the Google search and surfed a
few websites, but most of the listings I see look like new prices, model
descriptions and news clippings about Stephanhouser.

Once again, thanks for the reply,
Wayne
